How to Help

We welcome any way you can help support Project Irene in the following projects:

Volunteer Builders
Anyone with any knowledge with the hammer can help out as a Volunteer Builder. Supervised by experienced builder Lelan Parsons, the VB's will help with some hands on building projects. Having retired, Leland can now be found most days working on Irene. Contact us to sign up or just show up to help restore Irene to her original splendor.

Scholarship Fund
All parties interested in restoring and transforming IRENE (a fishing vessel for 3 generations) into a Harbor Touring Vessel, the proceeds from which would go into an educational scholarship fund for the children and grandchildren of commercial fishing families from Pillar Point Harbor. Once we have raised sufficient funds we will accept applications.

Sponsorship
If you are an organization or business that wish to co-sponsor components of Project Irene, please contact us. Besides the name recognition, we think you would enjoy contributing to the scholarship fund associated with Project Irene. Join the Coast Guard who have sponsored various training programs with Project Irene. Feel free to contact us if have any other sponsorship ideas.

Fundraising Programs
Restoring Irene back to its former seaworthy self cost money. Besides needing the necessary supplies for the restoration phase, we need volunteers who can help coordinate various fundraising programs in the Half Moon Bay area, Bay Area, and nationally. will be determined by various means. Please contact us if you wish to help volunteer.

Pillar Point Harbor Tours
We eventually wish to establish Pillar Point Harbor Tours to conduct both public and private harbor tours on the IRENE with approximately seven employees: 1 office/business manager, 3 captains on rotating schedules, and 3 crew members on rotating schedules. Come back soon to apply for one of these fun positions.

Educational Programs
We encourage teachers to bring their students to see Irene in the restoration phase and when she is back in the water. We can work together to provide whatever educational materials or information your students need to have a better understanding and respect for the ocean. If you are a teacher and wish to schedule a tour of your class, simply contact us and we can arrange a time.
